Eclipse

I finished Eclipse last night, headache be damned.
Ah what to say? It didn’t draw me in the same way that Twilight did. It didn’t keep me rushing through the pages the way that New Moon did. I sort of plowed my way through this one just to get to the end of it. But I like that Bella *almost* seems like she’s starting to grow up.
I loathed the love triangle. Which is unfortunate because it’s a darned big part of the book. I didn’t love Jacob in New Moon but I spent most of this book wishing I could slap him upside the head. Edward got on my nerves too and that’s not something I ever thought would happen. I’m used to Bella being the one that’s annoying.
There was less interaction with the Cullen family than I expected. I kind of thought that in this one we’d see Bella interacting more with Esme and Carlisle as she’s chosen them as her future “parents”. In the book Bella speaks a number of times about the Cullens being her family but there’s not a whole lot of family interaction.
I like that we got Jasper’s and Rosalie’s backstory. Am I right in thinking that we are still missing Emmett’s and Esme’s?
I still like this series but I have to say that I think this book is the weakest to date. I’m really hoping that in the next book the focus will away from this stupid love triangle crap. And less werewolves . Not that I don’t like them - I think they are great characters - but I’m sick of the stupid werewolf/vampire war/rivalry crap.

Oh, I hated the love triangle. I really wish Meyer hadn’t gone there. It was unnecessary.
I loved Rosalie’s and Jasper’s back story as well. It was interesting and it really helped to understand their characters better.
I also wouldn’t have minded more interaction with the Cullen family. I think they’re interesting characters and their presence was missed.
I definitely enjoyed the first two books the most, but I still like the series, too. Some people have had pretty strong reactions to Eclipse, and while I was disappointed with this one, I wasn’t as disappointed as many seem to be. I’ll still be reading to find out what happens next.
It does seem like werewolves vs. vampires has been done to death by nearly every writer in the genre. And writers need to be SO careful when writing annoying characters. *sigh* Otherwise it just makes the book annoying.
I’m about 200 pages from the end, and as most people I’ve heard from about this book feel the same way as you, I’m not too positive my opinion of it will improve with the last few pages. A shame, really, as I loved Twilight so much.
I finished it this weekend and I’m right there with you - absolutely hated the love triangle bit. I was ok with Jacob in New Moon but in this book I really hated him. And Bella seriously got on my last nerves too. I won’t be rushing to read book four. Sad.
I still think Meyer might be able to redeem herself in a 4th book… But I’m bloody sick of the vampires vs. werewolves thing. And I never want to hear another thing about the love triangle crap. I’ll probably still buy the 4th book in hardcover…if only so that it will match the rest of them.
I’ve been hearing the same thing all over the place. It has been too hot here to walk down to the bookstore to buy a copy of this, but now maybe I won’t even bother. I thought this book would wrap up the story and things would come to a definitive end, but it looks like that didn’t happen. I take it Bella doesn’t decide one way or another to be a vampire or not? Maybe I’ll just add my name to the library list–I am not in any hurry now to read it. Sorry it turned out to be such a disappointment!
So far I am about 5 pages in and it made me want (and make) pasta for dinner. If it keeps mentioning food I am going to be very fat by the end.

and is there seriously going to be another book?
cause i know about twilight being writen from edward’s perspective but will there be another one thats like new storyline and everything?
