About Sassymonkey

I am a 20-something writer in Ottawa, Ontario. My apartment in Ottawa offers me cozy reading in front ofthe fire during cold dreary days and the sunroom offers fresh air and bird-watching for my cheese-addicted cat Piper (who is not fake, despite what some people may say) on sunny days.

After taking a few months off to destress from my last job I’ve started job searching again (interviews, ugh). I work, I read, I eat, I ramble. I try to read a wee bit of everything. Except maybe politics but even then that’s a fine line because how can you read about major events in history without reading about politics? I also read a lot of some things – like YA. I love YA!

Please don’t ask me to name favourite books or authors. It pains me because there are too many and the answers differ depending on the day and well, someone or something always gets left off. I occasionally have a book buying problem – that is if you consider going into a book store to browse and leave with 6 books. But that’s not really a problem is it???

It was once pointed out to me that it’s near impossible to figure out what my real name is from this blog. Oops! It was never my intention to be totally anonymous. So hi everyone! My name is Karen! However, I have been know to answer to Monkey. That’s all Kit-Cat although she rarely ever just calls me Monkey. I’m Monkey!Monkey!Monkey! Or if her dogs are around occasionally Aunt Monkey. You can call me Monkey too if you want. I’ll likely answer to Sassy as well. Heck, I’ll be honest – I’ll probably answer to “Hey you!”

I am a Contributing Editor at BlogHer where I cover Books (Saturdays and Mondays as of August 2006) and Canada (on Thursdays as of November 2007).

Just curious, why did you become a tech writer if you have such an apparent passion for fiction? Forgive me if you’ve addressed this already in your blog–I’m new here. :)

I hope Karen forgives me for firing a comment in response. (And I came here via Kate’s Book Blog, by the by)….and this comment is about 18 months behind the original, but thee you are.

I adore fiction and yes I’m a ‘technical writer’ of sorts. To keep writing day in and day out is a discipline in itself and it makes the fiction all the more enjoyable when you don’t deal with it all the time.

There you are…a response so late, nobody will probably ever read on a website I have only just visited. Perhaps I should return to my own scribblings!
    :o )
